Massachusetts Consulting Services
Heating and cooling systems account for more than 56% of a homes energy use. With energy prices higher than ever before, is your home as efficient as it should be?
Improving energy efficiency is the simplest, most cost-effective way to combat rising fuel costs and make your home more comfortable. The first step is to understand the condition and performance of your home, winter or summer.
Wilson Services provides home energy audits and Blower Door infiltration analysis to determine the most practical and cost-effective ways to increase the energy performance of your home. Often, a few targeted improvements can make a tremendous impact while helping you to avoid costly and unnecessary home improvement repairs.
A Home Energy Audit might confirm what you are thinking about problems in your home and could very likely find other issues that need to be addressed. Our expert consultants will prescribe practical solutions to resolve these issues. We have the diagnostic tools needed to analyze what the eyes cant see and the ability to locate whole house issues, that when resolved will provide a more comfortable and energy efficient place to live. Key factors in homeowner decision-making should include economic impact and estimated return on investment (ROI) of major improvements. Our in-depth Home Audit provides you with the tools needed to make wise decisions on future home improvements, and energy efficient changes for your home.
Blower Door and Infiltration Testing
The Blower Door system is used to find and measure air leaks in ductwork. The Blower Door forces air through all leaks between the duct system and unconditioned spaces such as attics, crawl spaces and garages. Then using chemical smoke or a leak detection tool called a pressure pan, we can quickly pinpoint duct leaks in your home. Find out more about this tool.
Infrared Diagnostics and Thermography
Thermal/Infrared Imaging is the most effective & least intrusive of all building diagnostic procedures. It identifies heat and cooling loss, damaged or inadequate insulation, faulty wiring, air and pipe leakages, subsurface moisture intrusion and/or condensation problems & much more in a snap. Data loggers are connected to air compressors to measure both electric load and pressure to achieve energy efficient operation. Data is collected over a given normal operating period and analyzed. Energy input (electrical energy) is compared to energy output (mechanical energy). The ratio of energy output and energy input is the efficiency index of an air compressor unit. This allows us to know exactly the amount of energy you are losing within your home. Find out more about this tool.
Air Balancing and Measurement
We balance all types of HVAC systems and are well educated with most systems. Our job reports provide all of the fan data; air, water and temperature test results, and equipment changes / modifications. Our state of the art equipment is calibrated regularly and our staff is courteous and professional. Find out more about this too.
Leaky ductwork steals away system performance taking away with it your investment in high efficiency equipment. For example, a 13 SEER air conditioning unit connected to a duct system with 30% leakage costs as much to operate as a less expensive 10 SEER unit connected to a tight duct system. In addition, leaky duct systems often make it necessary to install oversized heating and cooling systems which are more expensive to buy and operate. Find out more about this service
